While he had released several albums of sizable acclaim beforehand, the debut of Zer0 れい's album "ブラックマジック (Black Magic)" was his break out into the scene, fostered by a large push from the artist to put it onto vinyl. Much ended up following this, including further cassette and vinyl releases within the sphere of vaporwave, all of which led up to the artist eventually forming their own record label. In such a sense sense, "ブラックマジック (Black Magic)" serves as a touchstone in the discography, a turning point.

After the release of the album, Zer0 れい took it upon himself to go on tour in order to promote the album and his artistic vision. One of these shows in particular was recorded in Berlin and given to the label Net Century to host. Rough, yet complimentary to the sound that the artist was pursuing at the time, "Live in Berlin ベルリンでライブ" chronicles this show in an open area. The recording is as DIY as it gets, recorded with only "a single microphone", in the words of the artist.

With a story like this, we find the journey of Zer0 れい, the journey of "ブラックマジック (Black Magic)", and the accomplishment that is the shows surrounding "Live in Berlin ベルリンでライブ" as something parallel to ourselves, that we see great admiration in. We've always encouraged the DIY, the people who build themselves from nothing and insist upon putting art that is distinctively representative of themself into the world. Out of many recent artists, Zer0 れい has been steadfast in exemplifying this, and the works contained within this live set are a testament to such.
