Currently having seen its more recent digital re-release on Ailanthus Recordings, Sun Shining Optimism is a part of a much older, much more tightly knit era of vaporwave production. As more people entered the scene and became artists themselves over the years, albums ended up standing out that had the most cohesive mission statements, wanting to express something straight from the artist that could most feasibly be done through sampling.

NYKDLN's albums have always been built to push boundaries within vapor since the beginning, taking inspiration from the earliest sources that were available and using more experimental, rough chopping techniques. Part eccojams, part classic vapor, and part something inextricable from the artist itself, it ends up tough to describe the album in a way that listeners can anticipate without previous experience with the artist.

The listening experience offered by SSO is unique, something that shines light on some of the earliest experimentation within the more clean-cut styles of vaporwave. If the idea of this intrigues you, a listen is more than well to serve your curiosity.
