First released in 2016, Invisible Classics still stands as a high point in the career of Manchester-based multigenre artist VHS Midnight Style, having been released alongside greats such as Saint Pepsi, 猫シ Corp., Epson, Sangam, and bodyline on the prolific Sunset Recordings label. Like many of his releases, this one was quite fit to be held up high with the works of such esteemed artists.

Created back in the 'Pharma' phase of releases that he had been working on, the striking blue and white color palette of this album belies a unique entry into the realm of downtempo synthwave, especially at the time of its release. Tracks such as This Deal Won't Last Forever experiment in mixing together techniques prominent with slushwave artists at the time, incorporating perfectly timed phasers with the percussion that backs the track.

And while the opening track is interesting in itself, it serves the important role in being a relatively short track on the list, introducing the listener to its sound before flipping the tables around, immediately moving into First Glance. VMS manages to change the pace and set his own rules with seemingly every track, setting just a few consistent themes as a backdrop in order to create the most excellent of soundscapes over top.
