Over the last year, GODSPEED 音 has been working consistently to create unique atmospheres with their project. Each album focuses around a central mood and theme, with a heavy focus on effects work that helps to highlight that point. With previous works putting the spotlight on ethereality and the inherent relaxational properties of the music they usually sample, "A DAY IN THE SHADE" takes a similar end result and approaches it from the other side.

Every ounce of roughness is dragged out of the sound through the use of meticulous mastering and miscellaneous adjustments, working with a selection of DJ-style cuts in order to emulate the sweltering nature of summer. The bass almost seems to hover back and forth because of these changes, shifting like the air caught in a heatwave. Yet, through it all, the album manages to be supremely relaxing, reaching a similar point of mood as much of the artist's other work.

However, GODSPEED 音 has kept this piece unique within their discography, only roughly scraping at the edges of the sound attempted on this record in his future albums. This has left "A DAY IN THE SHADE" as something that has its own special place through something as simple as its general texture of sound, which pairs nicely with the thematic choices of its atmosphere. This is a truly one-of-a-kind piece that we're happy to get to host.
