Across the lands of Okinawa, Japan, the species of cicada known as Graptopsaltria Nigrofuscata makes itself known throughout the summer. Its call carries over the city and adds a distinct flavor to the day, a sound which almost evokes a stifling warmth and dryness in the air, amplifying the effects of the weather in which it thrives in.

Ecconomy Class' album '蝉の長い夏' (Cicada's Long Summer) takes on the task of evoking this event. Its place, time, and feelings are all encapsulated in a collection of classic vaporwave, with a touch of influences from slushwave to balance out the drier sounds. Ambient chittering from the insects of the album's namesake can be heard in the background as well, sliding from the forefront to the back, before peeking in again near the end.

Its sounds have been textured to reflect the fleeting nature of the species it comes from as well, the wistfulness of many of its samples colliding with mastering techniques which make each note seem to fade, dissipate, and then disappear to make room for the next, until there is nothing more left. An excellent piece all around, and one that we've been very excited to host.
